My Plans for the Future

Hey Lovelies!!!

I want to take this time to just talk a little bit about the future. It's sometimes really scary to think about because it's so unpredictable, but it's always fun to try and plan ahead (whether it goes to plan or not). And just like I have plans for my life, I have plans for my blog! So this is where I involve you guys! :)

I began blogging, give or take, half a year ago. And ever since doing so, I found out that I really enjoy it a lot! Seeing how so many people are successful at blogging and now have it as a career makes me want to do the same thing! Blogging is the first thing that I've done that I really enjoy doing (even if I'm not the best yet). I can already see myself improving since the first few blog posts I made. And I have a few posts planned for the future; I'll hopefully have a few more posts before the year ends!

If all goes well, I hope this blog can really take off and I can branch off. At the current moment, I've been taking the pictures for my blog from my iPhone, which actually has a really nice camera quality, but the storage isn't ideal. So, for my birthday, which is in March, I'm asking for a Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS so I can begin to take better photos and possibly start vlogging occasionally. I definitely won't get into daily vlogging, but if I'm doing something or going somewhere fun, I can take you along. If that happens and I get a good response, I would probably start main channel beauty, fashion, etc. videos.

I really have high hopes for this and I hope all goes according to plan. But, like I said in the beginning, that isn't how things always work. But since I love doing this so much, I want to do as much as I can to hopefully turn this into something more than just a hobby!

I love you guys!! Talk to you all really soon! :)

Review- The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara

Hey Lovelies!!!

Recently, I tried out a new mascara and I felt the need to share my thoughts about it! I've tried out Maybelline's The Falsies Big Eyes

I got the color #202 Blackest Black (I always wear black mascara). Their claim for this product is to give "360ยบ false lash effect" and "bigger wide open eyes". And what sets this product apart from the regular The Falsies mascara is that it has two different brushes: one for the upper lashes, and one for the bottom lashes (giving it major bonus points, in my opinion)

Left: Brush for upper lashes
Right: Brush for lower lashes

And now onto some pictures of the product on my lashes!

Before:

With mascara:

With all eye makeup:

So, in conclusion, I really do love this mascara! The different brushes are perfect and the formulation of the mascara is practically the same as the original Falsies mascara. And it definitely gives my lashes some extra volume and length. I do, however, use Covergirl Clump Crusher after The Falsies Big Eyes on the upper lashes, not because it clumps, but I just think it looks a little better when layered, although not necessary. I'm very happily surprised at how much I adore this mascara and I will continue to buy it!!! I highly recommend you try it out if you're looking for a great, new mascara!!

First Time at Lush + a Haul!!

Hey Lovelies!!!

So recently, something big happened! I experienced Lush Cosmetics for the first time and also made my first purchase there! This is HUGE for me! I've always wanted to buy something from Lush but never knew what. And to be honest, the store kind of intimidated me... But after I watched a few YouTube videos, read a few blog posts of hauls and reviews, and checked the Lush website (http://www.lush.com/), I got an idea of what products would work best for me and also some favorites/bestsellers. Once I got to the store after doing a bit of research, I realized how much easier it was to shop at Lush. It also greatly helped that the employees at Lush are super friendly and helpful! So here's what I walked out with:

♥ "Mint Julips" Lip Scrub
This was #1 on my list of what I wanted to get. In the majority of the videos, blog posts, and reviews I've seen, people rave about Lush's lip scrubs ("Mint Julips", "Bubblegum", "Popcorn") so I knew I had to give one a try. At $9.95, it is on the more expensive side for basically a small jar full of flavored sugar. However, I love this product and I think that it will last a while even though it looks like such a small amount. Each time you use, you only use a pea-sized amount. Typically, I use this product in the morning after I brush my teeth and I follow it up with my eos Lip Balm in Sweet Mint and then your breath and lips are both minty fresh! And just for the record, this lip scrub definitely does smooth your lips out and it's not too rough so you can use it each day without problems. Especially since it's gotten pretty cold here in Massachusetts, dry, chapped lips are right around the corner so this lip scrub along with some lip balm will become my best friends.

♥"Cupcake" Fresh Face Mask
I was hesitant to buy this one at first just because of how it looks... You're all thinking it... But I bought it just to try because it's basically made for people with the exact skin type that I have (oily, spotty, acne-prone, sensitive to perfumes and dyes - aka annoying skin). It's also made with teenagers in mind. I probably could have asked to try it, but I bought the full thing for $6.95 and I'm pretty happy I did. Although it isn't the best looking mask, my skin felt really nice after using it. It smells alright, kind of like chocolate frosting. I don't know if it works to fade hyperpigmentation or acne scarring and I didn't notice any difference like that but it does soothe your skin. I think that a full size container of Cupcake will last for about six face masks and expires about a month after it is made. And remember that the Lush Fresh Face Masks have to be stored in a refrigerator!

♥"So White" Bath Bomb
OH MY GOSH! This is perfection! Literally... So this is a seasonal bath bomb :( And if you need to know something that I love, it's apple scented stuff. This bath bomb smells of apple and the inside is pink so when you drop it into your bath water, it will turn a pink tint. And to make this an even better product, it leaves your skin feeling amazing and soft. The price for this is $6.45. I actually split mine in half to make it last for two baths, it just makes the scent, tint, and softening of the skin a little less. But I think it's worth the price if it lasts for two baths. Oh and it's pretty big too, unlike "Butterball" or others of that size. You can bet that I will be buying more of the So White bath bomb before it goes away until next year. And I suggest you do the same to experience the amazingness of it.

So that's my haul and review of my first three Lush Cosmetics products. I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, let me know and I'll arrange for more posts like this! Also, sorry for the product pictures from the Lush website... I've used all of So White and most of Cupcake and Mint Julips so I had to use them for reliable pictures of the products. Next time I buy stuff from Lush, I'll have to remember to take pictures before I use them...

I have a few more posts arrange for the next week or two if all goes well so stay tuned for that. And tomorrow (hopefully...) I will have a newer type of post coming your way! It's a bit on the personal side. But don't worry, it's not depressing or anything like that. It's basically advice for you all that I've learned here on a college campus that I hope you can benefit from! Oh, and I also made a Twitter so go follow me!! (@MegsMaquillage)This is all I have for today but I'll be back soon! I'm not letting myself take a break for another month... I promise!

♥♥♥

P.S. Sorry it's been over a month since my last post. It's totally my fault and I promise to have A TON of content coming your way really soon!

NYX Haul

Hey Lovelies!!!

So, a little while ago I was looking online and I realized that I've never bought anything from NYX Cosmetics. Which is absolutely crazy, since I absolutely hate spending a fortune on makeup. NYX has a reputation for being really great quality makeup for a reasonable price. Although it is a bit more expensive than your typical drugstore makeup product, there isn't too much of a difference and the quality is amazing for most of the products. Another reason why I felt the need to purchase some NYX products is because I wear matte eye shadows and it's surprisingly difficult to find them in the drugstore, and NYX has a whole line of matte eye shadow singles.  So, as you could probably already tell, I bought a few things and I've tried them all out, so here you go...!

So the first thing I noticed was how nice the shipping packaging/bag was.  Instead of everything coming in a big plastic bag, everything came in a nice lace drawstring bag which I will definitely find a way to reuse :)

Here's an overview of everything that I got

NYX Pore Filler
So this is a silicone-based "base". Although it is considered a primer on the website, I have to disagree, as it just makes your skin look slightly smoother and doesn't keep your makeup on your face any longer. In order to get the look of "pore-less", smooth skin, you must apply A LOT of this (and this is only .67 fl.oz.). I also wouldn't advise using a lot of this every day as it could easily clog your pores if not all of it is removed at the end of the day. All in all, I don't think I will be repurchasing this, however it was nice to try.

NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base
I really like this eye shadow base. On the website, a lot of people were comparing this to the Nars E/S Base. Although I've never tried that, I do think this works very well. It has a wand applicator, which I love. I used this on a day where I needed my makeup to look good and last all day and it definitely held the eye shadow. It kept it looking good all day and I feel it helped to allow the eye shadow look more pigmented (or at least darker). I will definitely repurchase when I run out of this.

NYX Nude Matte Shadow Singles
♥ NMS20 Lap Dance
♥ NMS04 Maybe Later
♥ NMS10 Underneath It All
Where have these eye shadows been all my life?! They are exactly what I need for an everyday look. As you may already know, I like to use a light color for my lid, a darker color for my crease, and an even darker color for my outer corner - but they all need to be matte. These are perfect and there are so many more colors to choose from in stores and online. They are SO creamy, don't feel heavy or cakey, and are super pigmented. I will definitely continue to purchase these for my everyday eye shadows.

NYX Love In Rio Trio (LIR07 Barefoot In The Sand)
I purchased this trio just to try out something a little different. I liked all the colors but the center one is slightly shimmery. I figured it would be nice to use on special occasions and I've worn it once already. They are all really pretty colors and work great together! The center color isn't too shimmery and actually looks very pretty when paired with the other two colors or just on it's own. I would definitely repurchase this (although I'm not sure if it's Limited Edition or not)

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss (LG129 Beige)
So I've wanted to try this lip gloss ever since I heard MissGlamorazzi talk about it in a few of her videos. And I agree, it's a very pretty color and isn't too sticky or gloopy. However, I don't like the smell at all. It smells like Oragel (that numbing stuff that my mom used to use on me and my brothers when we were little and had a tooth growing in). I want to use this lip gloss because it looks nice on, but I don't because I don't want to smell it... :( I'm not sure if I will repurchase this at the moment, but if you won't be bothered by the smell, I would recommend for you to try this!

Because I spent a certain amount of money, I was given this round makeup sponge as a free gift! I have used this and I'm not super impressed. It's nothing really special. I think this would be nice to try if you're using your fingers to apply your foundation or concealer, or if you want to take a break from using a brush for a while. However, I don't know that this is the best option for a sponge, but since it's free, it's nice to have.

Overall, I'm really happy with my purchases from NYX. Although I'm not a huge fan of all the products, I enjoyed trying them out and letting you know what I think about them.

Just so you know, I have some more blog posts all ready, so be ready for those! And if you guys liked this post and you want me to do some more like this, please let me know. I created a contact page, so check that out. I'll be sure to get back to you if you try and contact me :)

Homecoming Haul

Hey Lovelies!!!

I'm back with another exciting post!! And just one day after the last one! That's quite impressive for me. So, my last post was a Getting Ready/OOTD from Homecoming/Family Weekend here on campus. In that post, I had said that me, my Mom, my friend (who I grew up knowing), and her family spent the day together. Unfortunately, by the time our families had arrived, all of the activities had ended, except for the football game, which started at 1:00. Our parents arrived a little after 12:00 and everyone was hungry, so we went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch (YUM, one of my favorites). When we finished we into the mall that the restaurant was connected to. Although we didn't plan to go shopping, we ended up staying there for over two hours (at this point we had missed the football game, which was fine with me as I hate football). After shopping in the mall, we took a trip over to Target where we continued to shop and spend money. In our defense, most of the things we bought were things that we needed (kind of). We bought a lot of food at Target, but I'm not going to include that in this post.

The first place I bought stuff at was CVS (which was in the mall). I was running low on Foundation and Powder so I had to pick them up. I also wanted to try a new Concealer. I was also running a little low on my usual Eye Shadows, so I looked for some new neutral, matte ones but I'm not too impressed with what I got.

Revlon Colorstay Concelaer (02 LIGHT)
Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combo/Oily Skin (150 BUFF)

Revlon Colorstay 16 Hour Eye Shadow (500 ADDICTIVE)
FYI: In the store, this looked like a Quad with 3 matte colors and 1 subtle shimmer color, but it turns out they're all really shimmery and a little too dark. But I will keep this as they would be good "going out" colors

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder (4-5 CREAM/LIGHT)

Next stop at the mall was Bath and Body Works!
FUN FACT: I can't use B&BW Shower Gels or Body Lotions because they give me hives. Boo :(

Bath and Body Works Wallflower Plug-In with Spiced Cider refill.
Here's the main reason why I went into B&BW: Wallflowers! Since we're not allowed to burn candles in dorms, I've opted to use these. I already had the plug-in but I had the Caribbean Escape scent and my roommate and I wanted a Fall scent. There were a lot to choose from but in the end I chose Spiced Cider. I don't like Pumpkin or Bakery scents, and there were A LOT of those. I love Apple scents and this one wasn't too sweet. It has a spice to it (obviously, you could probably tell that from the title) so it smell more like Apple Cinnamon and our room now smells amazing.

Bath and Body Works PocketBac Hand Sanitizers in Caribbean Escape and Island Margarite
Reason #2 for going into B&BW. I uses hand sanitizer like crazy and it always helps if they smell nice! Regardless of the season, I always choose these two scents. They are my absolute favorites (in hand sanitizers, wall flowers, and candles). Plus they were 5 for $5.

Then look what I found!!! It's a PocketBac holder that's an cute little elephant with a bow and a sparkly balloon. AND IT LIGHTS UP! My mom thought this was a childish purchase, but it was too cute to resist. My favorite animal is an Elephant and I love bows and sparkles so it was just perfect!

We went a few other places in the mall, but I didn't buy anything else. Then we went to Target and I bought tons of food and also a pair of shoes that I've wanted for a while.

Aren't they just perfect?! Sorry for my ugly knees. I've dislocated both of my knees in the past and they just look terrible now. And I absolutely hate styling boots and dresses together, it's just what I happened to be wearing when I took all of the pictures of the products. I will try and do a styling post for the boots because I have some ideas...

And finally, it's that time of the year when store start selling Candy Corn again! This isn't my favorite candy, but I did buy it makes it official that it's finally Autumn (my favorite season, followed closely by Spring). And how nice do they look in this little dish to add some seasonal decor to our room. It's also nice to have this in case you get a sweet tooth all of a sudden ;)

Well, that's it for my Homecoming Haul! I hope to do more hauls really soon! I'm going home in a week, so I hope to do some shopping while I am able to drive my car and I'm not trapped and relying on the horrible bus service. Maybe if I get a chance, I'll do a big Fall Haul with makeup, clothes, and accessories...?! And I'll also get on that post for styling Riding Boots. See you guys really soon!!

Getting Ready for Homecoming/Family Weekend

Hey Lovelies!!!

I'm back with more posts! Sorry I'm so bad at blogging regularly...

Along with this post, I have a story! So, this was supposed to be posted a week ago, but there were some complications... Basically, I had everything written out and ready to post and my computer decided not to work. I got the school computer and it is absolutely terrible. It looks about 10 years old, is the bulkiest computer, it only has a battery life of about 2.5 hours and I've only had this computer for 3 months. You could say I'm disappointed. Luckily, I brought it to the IT department and they were able to fix it (for now). Anyway, after I got it back I had a bunch of assignments and homework to do, so obviously I wasn't able to blog. Since I don't have Friday classes, I have a ton of time today to blog, do homework, laundry, clean, catch up on sleep, and watch a bit of TV and YouTube. It's great!

Back to the post...

Last weekend was Homecoming/Family Weekend here on campus. My Mom came up to visit (both of my brothers had sports games so my Dad had to stay back with them) and it was a really great day! My friend from back home's family came up with my Mom so we all spent the day together. Since I hadn't seen my Mom in a while, I wanted to look nice and I decided to take pictures since I had some extra time, so here they are.

So, this is what I looked like when I woke up (try not to look too close as it's not too pretty)...

This is me after doing my makeup with all the same makeup that's shown in my makeup collection post, minus the Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm (My eyebrows look rather strange and uneven in these pictures for some reason, I have no idea why)

Here's with my hair and makeup done. If you couldn't tell, I did a sock bun. And, yes, I did use a sock... (Sorry for the loose hair in the picture of the back. I fixed it right after the picture was taken)

Here's the final outfit!! And look, I fixed my hair in the back!
Dress with Belt - Target
Shoes - Payless Shoesource
Nails - Revlon Colorstay (Bold Sangria)

I really enjoyed doing this blog post, so if you guys liked it too, please let me know so I can plan to do more like these. I also have another post planned... it's going to be a haul!! That should be up within the next two days so stay tuned.

Oh, and for those of you who weren't aware, I have a Google+ account connected to this blog. It should be linked on the right sidebar, so if you have a Google+, please follow me/add me to your circles so you can be notified when I post a new blog or maybe just post a status. I would love to connect with my readers some more!!

Favorite Outfit - Summer 2013

Hey Lovelies!!!

For anyone who follows me on Google+, you may have heard that I was planning on posting twice today (to kind of make up for the lack of posts in the past).  So, here it is!!

I'm sure all of you have that one outfit that you just absolutely love and you feel so comfortable in it.  Well, I definitely do!!!  And I feel like each season (at least), I get a new favorite outfit.  So, I'm planning on making it a point to post a new favorite outfit towards the end of each season.  That way, I can see what outfit I tend to gravitate towards the most.

This is my Favorite Outfit for the Summer of 2013

So this is basically what the outfit looks like on along with my hair and makeup done.  I wasn't able to get a decent picture of the outfit with the shoes, so I'll just add them as a separate picture further down. (I apologize for the state of my bedroom, as this is when it was in the process of being painted and rearranged and I was also packing for college)

This is the material of the dress.  It's a white dress from Delia's (I call Delia's a black hole because they have so many adorable clothes that really suit my style, however, it is rather expensive there, so I tend to just shop there as a last resort if I can't find something anywhere else).  I think this dress is a mix between a knit material and a crochet material... I don't know if it has a specific name.

My new favorite accessory!!! Being the girly-girl that I am, I love bows SO MUCH!! This bow is from Claire's and it's a Hunter Green color with gold brackets at the bottom corners.  I am literally obsessed with this bow.  I'm fairly positive that it was only about $5 so it was a really good price.

These are one of my favorite pairs of shoes this summer.  They are from Target and they are literally the most comfortable wedges I've ever worn.  I've had multiple times where I've worn them to a party and never once did my feet hurt.  And yes, I know, wedges are a lot more comfortable than heels, but when I tell you that these shoes are comfortable, I mean that I would choose to wear these over a pair of flats (with the proper outfit, of course!).

So that's my favorite outfit from the Summer.  Unfortunately, Summer's basically over since school has started back up.  But, I'm not complaining because it's almost time for sweater weather, which I'm so excited about!!

Please leave a comment describing your favorite outfit from the Summer and also tell me what you're looking forward to the most during Autumn :)

BTW: the phone case in the pictures is from Wet Seal, the nail polish on my fingers is Essie "Mint Candy Apple", and the nail polish on my toes is Sinful Colors "Boogie Nights" (I absolutely love all three of those!!)

See you all next time! BYEEEEE
